App Store Redirects Disrupting Cydia User Experience

Cydia is a wonderful platform where developers and iOS users can exchange new tweaks – or even sell them – and do wonders with iOS. However, Cydia is not without its own faults. The repositories that host iOS and jailbreak tweaks are now flooded with app store redirects. Recently, it has been more and more annoying.

App store redirects aren’t really annoying if they happen once every now and then (or at least once every time we want to install a new tweak or jailbreak app.). The problem is, the current state of Cydia forces users to deal with five – sometimes more – app store redirect popups. Read More...

FileBrowser, a great alternative to iFile

After many years, I still remember my first jailbreak experience with the iPod Touch 2G. The two first Cydia apps that I installed were Winterboard along with iFile which would allow me to change up a couple of settings on my device. Well, the old and infamous iFile has a bit of more competition right now, after the release of FileBrowser, a brand new Cydia app which can be found on the BigBoss repo, which is free of charge and offers some awesome features.

With this being said, the Cydia app allows iDevice users to easily go ahead and browse throughout the smallest files in their device, on the entire file system and also do a couple of cool things such as creating files, deleting folders, files while also allowing users to rename, copy, paste and edit. STUCalendar adds the current date to Lock screen unlock slider

One of the many reasons that users jailbreak their iOS 8 device is to have the freedom to customize it the way they want. One of the iOS 8 elements that users mostly look forward to customizing is the unlock slider on the Lock screen. STUCalendar is a new iOS 8 jailbreak tweak that provides you the ability to customize it.

STUCalendar replaces the Slide to Unlock text on the Lock screen with the current date of your device which can be either Gregorian, Persian or Hebrew.

Although the current date appears on the Lock screen right below the time, with this tweak, you can also view the current Hebrew or the Persian date which is a nice addition especially if you deal with these dates frequently since iOS 8 doesn’t provide an option to choose them. Read More...

MorePredict displays more predicted words on iOS 8 keyboard

One of the major new features of iOS 8 is that it now displays word predictions above the keyboard allowing you to choose any as you type. However, some users wish that the keyboard displayed more word predictions rather than three. This is why a new jailbreak tweak known as MorePredict emerged on Cydia recently to fix this problem.

Developed by PoomSmart, the Cydia tweak allows you to choose the number of word predictions that you want to be displayed on the keyboard rather than the default word count of three. On smaller screens such as the iPhone 5 or the 5s, we recommend that you go with 6 word predictions, but on larger devices such as the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, you can go even higher. Read More...

Change the playback speed in the Music app with SpeedChanger

Normally, when you press the forward or the backward button in the Music app, the song starts to go forward and backward at a slow rate and the playback speed starts to increase gradually over time. SpeedChanger is a brand new jailbreak tweak that allows you to configure the playback speed.

Use Hey Siri without connecting to a power outlet with UntetheredHeySiri

One of the main features of iOS 8 is that it allows you to say “Hey Siri” to your device while it’s connecting to a power outlet and in return have Siri launched automatically. This means that you no longer need to hold the Home button to launch Siri.

UntetheredHeySiri is a brand new jailbreak tweak that gets rid of this restriction. The tweak gives you the freedom to launch Siri automatically whenever you want by saying “Hey Siri” to your device. The iOS 8 jailbreak is here!

It’s finally here! After a couple of speculations in the past together with different stories regarding which developer will release the iOS 8 jailbreak for iOS 8- iOS 8.1, it seems like Pangu was finally able to get things done well.

Just a few hours ago, the team announced that the jailbreak also works on all of the devices that support iOS 8, so that includes the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air 2 which is simply great news. However, there’s still another side to this story. While Pangu may have managed to release the jailbreak itself, it is more for developers rather than consumers, as there would be no actual way for consumers to enjoy the jailbreak in the case that they had no apps to install. ScrubAround makes your music scrubbers round in the Lockscreen and Control Center

If you’ve ever looked closely at the progress bar on the Lock screen or Control Center when a music is playing, you’ll notice that the scrubber is a thin vertical line that makes it difficult to grab and scroll it, especially if you have a thick finger (no pun intended). To get rid of this annoyance, ScrubAround is a jailbreak tweak that aims to change the scrubber to make it more easier to scrub songs.

ScrubAround replaces the thin vertical scrubber with a round and solid circle allowing you to easily grab it and scrub through a song rather than having difficulties pressing and holding the original thin scrubber. Read More...

Get many great Snapchat features with GhostPrefs

Chances are that you’ve already heard about, or even used Snapchat before. Today, we’ll take a look at an interesting Cydia app known by the name of GhostPrefs. Due to the fact that its name doesn’t really manage to give away a lot about the app itself, we’ll have to go into an in-depth review.

However, if you’re still not aware about Snapchat, then it represents a social messaging app that allows users to share photos of themselves with their friends. What makes it different when compared to other photo sharing platforms is the fact that pictures shared via this platform are actually self-destructive, which means that they’ll be automatically deleted after a certain timeframe selected by the sender expires.
