Talk to your phone with Acute

Siri is great, but there are still things that can be done in order to better integrate it into the OS, but also to make it work better with other apps that your iPhone may have. Well, while it may not pick up sound as good as Siri, a Cydia app that has true potential is known by the name of Acute.

This cydia tweak provides the tools needed in order to allow your phone to listen for custom phrases and then perform actions easier that it would be with Siri, which requires a user to double tap the home button and stop doing what they were currently at. Another interesting thing about Acute is the fact that the preconfigured actions can be linked to Activator actions, thus making it a very useful Cydia app.

The installation process can be considered easy in general, but it does require a small dosage of technical knowledge. With this in mind, you will have to install the app through Cydia and then calibrate it with the help of your voice through a process created by the developers. Right after this is done, you can go ahead and create custom phrases with the help of your keyboard which can then be linked to Activator actions. For example, if you’d like your phone to open Messages, then you’ll have to write an action like ‘open messages’ and then link it with an Activator function. You will also have to use Activator in order to allow the app to listen to your voice. Just make sure to select the action needed, and you’ll be good to go.

Leaving aside the fact that it can open different apps, but also access certain functions of your phone, Acute has some more functions. These include its ability to work as a calculator as well. Leaving aside the fact that there are still a couple of improvements that need to be made in order to make the app work better, overall it represents a great choice for anyone who would like to try out a different voice controller from Siri. Acute can be downloaded for $3 via the Cydia store by anyone who is in possession of a jailbroken iPhone. Follow our iOS 7 jailbreak guide here if you haven’t jailbroken your iOS device already.

What improvements would you like to see in a future update of the Cydia app acute?
