Apple isn’t really going to offer live wallpapers to iOS users anytime soon. The company has had so many chances to do so over the years, but it is clear that live wallpapers – or dynamic wallpapers – are not in Apple designers’ minds at the moment; the same goes for additional themes. If you want to enjoy dynamic wallpapers, however, and your iPhone is jailbroken, you can simply use Dynamics.
Currently at its teaser stage, Dynamics is a jailbreak app that will be made available in Cydia once the Dynamics Teaser hits 500 downloads. You can search for the former using the keyword “Dynamic Teaser” and have it installed in just a few taps.
You also need Winterboard to run Dynamics Teaser. Once the jailbreak app is installed, go to the Winderboard preferences and activate the Dynamic themes. Be sure to respring once you have done this.
The next step would be to select a dynamic wallpaper from iOS’s Settings > Wallpaper menu. The built-in dynamic wallpapers from Dynamics Teaser are not very good, but several new live wallpapers will be available as part of the full app. Alternatively, you can install HiddenWallpapers and have a lot of options to choose from.
The Dynamic jailbreak app is hosted by MacCiti and is available through its repository. The full version will be available for $0.99, whilst the Dynamic Teaser is available now for free. You can help speed up the release of Dynamic’s full dynamic-theme app by downloading the teaser version through Cydia right now.
However, don’t you honestly think that with the processing power that Apple’s latest devices come with, Apple should actually consider offering live wallpapers? After all, what would they compromise? Android offers them and their devices continue to work great without encountering any issues, apart from a slightly weaker battery life.
Anyway, based on everything that has been outlined so far, what do you think about Dynamics? Is it a Cydia app that you would download? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
