While there are many tweak on Cydia related to music, Impulse is a jailbreak tweak that many music fans would love to try because it offers a a unique experience and functionality that many music tweak have been missing.
Impulse allows users to control the song that is playing on their device by making gestures on the screen while it is off and the device is locked. The actions range from play/pausing a song, skipping or going to the previous track to increasing or decrease the volume, all while your screen is off.
Currently, the tweak offers the following gestures and actions:
- Single tap on the screen to play or pause a song.
- Swipe up or down on the screen to raise or lower the volume of the song
- Swipe left or right on the screen to move to the previous or the next track respectively.
As you’d expect, the tweak adds a preference pane from the stock Settings app where you can enable or disable it on demand. You can also choose the idle time which sets the time the tweak remains active even after a music paused or stopped. As you’d expect, a higher idle time will have a negative impact on your battery life.
Then you’ll find a Secure Tap option that makes sure you don’t invoke a gesture mistakenly. When enabled, you’ll be required to first tap the screen once and then perform a gesture of your choice. There are also various other options that give you more control over the tweak’s configurations.
If you listen to music frequently, you should definitely consider giving this tweak a try. Impulse is available on Cydia for $1.99.
