Toady, Pangu has finally released the very first public untethered and much anticipated jailbreak tweak for iOS 9. Of course, it can be installed on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch; all the devices are included in the tweak. This includes also (but isn’t limited to) the latest iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and also includes every public version of iOS 9 (iOS 9.0, iOS 9.0.1 and iOS 9.0.2). What this means is that it is now technically feasible to actually reach beyond what was made possible in the Apple App Store on Apple’s brand new devices. While jailbreak software can be obtained completely for free, sadly, right now there’s only a Windows installer available. Mac support will most probably follow in the future but a date has not been announced as of yet. We can only sit and wait.
As with all unofficial unsupported software for iOS, we would also advise you to proceed with extreme caution before actually installing this jailbreak. As with all the jailbreak tweaks, it can endanger the data you have stored on your phone. Make sure That you backup your devices in case of data loss; remember, jailbreaking will void your warranty for reasons apparent, if Apple repair staff detect it has been used. Apple is very conscious about what it lets other developers tamper with, so you’re way safer if you keep a couple of backups here or there. It has been reliably confirmed that the jailbreak does work but results may vary so be sure to keep backups.

As with all the similar software that was published, there are quite a few reminders to keep in mind. For example, we suggest that you disable Find My iPhone and passcodes in order to actually maximize the success rate of the jailbreak process. However, bear in mind that the jailbreak process also clashes with the iOS system OTA updater, which may cause numerous bugs and glitches. In the case you find the iOS 9 jailbreak failing all the time, attempt to do a full restore of the iPhone firmware by the way of iTunes before attempting the entire jailbreaking process all over again. In the case you need more info, please check out the Pangu website for more details. It is choke full of the interesting and useful info that you may need to make the process as painlessly and seamlessly as possible, though it shouldn’t be much of a hustle in the first place.
The general question remains: what is the influence of the jailbreak tweaks? The answer may surprise you. The importance of jailbreaking iOS devices has actually quite dwindled ever since Apple gradually started implementing many of the most popular jailbreak apps in the OS itself. This is especially the case with the inclusion of stuff like extensibility and Notification Center widgets. However, there are still some definite benefits you can get from access to an unmonitored, unregulated app store, despite Apple allowing many jailbreak apps all the time. Steve Troughton Smith this morning showed a proof-of-concept hack to get split-screen iOS 9 multitasking working on an iPad Air via the Pangu jailbreak. You can grab the code for this from GitHub.
